Preparing for International Moves and Hiring International Movers

IntlMOVE is a top choice when choosing between International Movers.

IntlMOVE has years of experiencing in handling all the details for international moves.

There are several things you can do before moving overseas to make international moves more stress free.

IntlMOVE has put together some great international moving tips.

Passports and Documents

Children’s passports are only good for five years, so make sure that everyone in your family has a passport that is up-to-date.

If your family member’s passport will expire close to your moving date, it is better to get it renewed as soon as possible in case there are any delays in your overseas move.

Some countries require that your passport be valid for at least 12 months if you are making an international move.

You should check with your embassy or consulate to learn the full extent of rules of passports, visas and other documentation.

Changing Residence Status

If you are making a permanent international move, you may be required to change your residence status.

Find out if you are eligible for dual citizenship and make yourself aware of any formalities that are involved in changing our status.

If anything is overlooked, you could face fines or other hurdles, so do your research well ahead of time.

You will need to do some work to update your information.

You have to alert your tax office, banks and other creditors.

Health Concerns

Before moving overseas, there are many health concerns you should prepare for.

Find out what your health insurance covers and determine if you need to get a new international plan.

Your employer may offer health insurance to you, so find out what benefits are being offered for your new job.

Each country has specific health care concerns that you may have never thought about.

Make sure that your drinking water is safe and determine if there are any food items you will want to avoid in your new country.

To Do Lists

When you decide to move overseas, you will want to stay organized!

Keep a notebook with you at all times to write down things that need to get done as you think about them.

Keeping organized and focused makes international moves much less stressful.

Plan ahead so you don’t miss any important international moving details.

Disconnect

In the modern world of phone, cable, internet and all sorts of other connections, you will need to disconnect a lot of things before you move.

Make a list of all of your bills, banks and important mail.

You will need to change your address or disconnect all of these services.

Contact your bank, credit cards, lenders and magazine subscriptions to update them on your international move.

You will need to disconnect cable, utilities, internet, home phone and cell phone.

If you have any regular home deliveries, like bottled water, you will need to discontinue these services.

Car

IntlMOVE can ship your car overseas if you determine that you would like to take your car with you to your new country.

If you are shipping your car overseas, you will need to get new auto insurance.

You will also need to apply for an international driving license.

There is a lot to prepare for when moving overseas, but if you stay organized your move can be stress free.

Planning for your international move can make all the difference in the world.

IntlMOVE will take care of all of your international shipping details, so contact the international movers well in advance.

There are so many things to take care of before moving overseas. This guide is a great resource to get started although I feel like there is a lot more to do! When I moved to Australia with IntlMOVE, I waited until the last minute to do a lot of these things. My best advice is to plan ahead for an overseas move.
