Clothes
Everyone is guilty of holding onto clothes that you fit into during your skinnier days.
If you have been holding onto the clothes for over 12 months, you are likely not going to wear them again.
You can also get rid of clothes that have gone out of style.
If you are moving somewhere with much warmer climates, you might not need your bulky sweaters or winter coasts.
Only keep clothes that are appropriate for your new country’s climate.
If you have small children, get rid of clothes that they no wear.
Also, don’t ship clothes that your children will outgrow in a short time period.
Shipping your household goods and personal effects overseas can take weeks or months, so the clothes you ship might not fit your children by the time your shipment arrives in your new country.

Furniture
If your new house is going to be smaller, you will need to get rid of some furniture so it will all fit in your new place of residence.
If you need new furniture to fill up more space in your new home overseas, you might want to wait to purchase new furniture to avoid the cost of shipping the items.
Whether you are renting a furnished or unfurnished apartment, find out what appliances and furniture comes with your new home.
This will help you determine what you need to ship overseas.

Electronics and Appliances
Your appliances and larger electronics might not work in your new home in your new country, so there is no point in shipping them overseas.
Find out what you will need to convert the electricity to determine whether or not the extra cost is worth the shipment of electronics and appliances.
You will probably not want to ship televisions, washer, dryers, refrigerators or other large items.
If you are moving to an apartment from a house, you will no longer need your lawnmower.

Basement, Garage and Attic
Clean out your basement, garage and attic.
Open up all the boxes that have been sitting there for years to determine whether or not you need any of the items in these unexplored areas of your house.
You will probably find that there are a lot of items that you forgot you had that you can easily get rid of to minimize your possessions.

When you have gathered everything you no longer need, there are several things you can do to get rid of everything.
If you have big furniture pieces you need to sell, you can put them on websites like craigslist.
You will have some items that are valuable that you can either list on auction-based websites like ebay, or websites where people come to your house to pick up the item like craigslist.
Yard sales are another way to get rid of the items you no longer need.
Friends and family might have uses for the items you no longer need, so that is another option to help minimize.
You will probably still have some unwanted items after selling your stuff and trying to give it away to friends and family, so donate the rest of these items to a charity.
Someone will have a use for the items you no longer need.

It is nice to see international movers helping out its clients. Moving overseas can be really expensive, so it is nice the intlmove puts out articles like this to help save money. I learned about intlmove when I wanted to find out how much it would cost to ship my household goods to australia. The free online quote on the intlmove website made that easy.

When i originally got my quote online from IntlMOVE, i didn’t plan on taking my entire household. When i decided to move more things, it was nice to change the quote online with Intlmove. Other companies had to come back to my house to remeasure and it was a real hassle.
